We, as a collective whole, are fat. Bummer. The obesity in rate in America is disgustingly high. A study by the NAtional Center for HEalth Statistics show that more than 34% of Americans are OBESE. Not overweight... OBESE. The Body Mass Index tells it all (check it out here)... for my height, I would hit the obese mark at about 180-ish pounds. I weighed that one time in my life... when I was NINE MONTHS PREGNANT - within a few months of giving birth, my weight dropped back down to below the top of what is considered to be OK and a normal weight.
The NCHS report stated that "more than one-third of adults, or over 72 million people, were obese in 2005-2006." 72 million fatties in this country?! Yowza! This is an issue we need to address as a nation. I know fast food is an easy solution for morning, afternoon, evening and late-night hunger, but so is a freaking carrot. Being overweight can cause some serious health problems. So to anyone who made that New Years resolution to shed the pounds and get down to a normal weight... BE STRONG! MAKE IT HAPPEN!
