Idiot files a law suit

Sheri Gilbert, some lady in North Carolina files a lawsuit in federal court regarding the 2005 movie Monster-in-Law. Gilbert is accusing Jennifer Lopez, Jane Fonda, and a ton of other people who worked on the film, of stealing the plot from a screenplay she wrote about her own mother-in-law.

Gilbert's suit, however, does not explain how anyone got their hands on the screenplay she wrote in 1998 (probably because nobody stole her ideas), but she does think she's entitled to a piece of the $154.8 million the movie made at the box office. Hmmm... sounds to me like somebody just wants some money... ah, don't we all.

Anyway, Warner Bros. basically thinks the lawsuit is a bunch of crap. Warner Bros' counsel made a statement saying "Plaintiff contends that she can 'own' the well-worn general 'mother-in-law' character type simply by filing a copyright application. Such is not the law." Lawyers for Warner Bros. have requested the suit be dismissed.

I totally agree, the woman just wants some money for doing nothing, which never happens, or I'd be freaking rich because I love to do nothing. HA.
