Daniel Petric (age 17) shot his parents (killing his mother and wounding his father) in October 2007 because they wouldn't let him play a video game. Lawyers for Petric were trying to use the defense that he was addicted to video games, which is a completely bullshit defense. I can't stand it when people say video games create violence or a reason for violence. The kid was a jackass and a murderer, who cares how much he liked video games.
And, by the way, I play the video game mentioned, Halo 3, and I am not about to kill anyone. Most of the people who end up killing and blame it on TV or video games have other serious mental issues that were either never identified or never properly diagnosed and treated with regular medication.
Ugh, stories like this are so annoying. But, on the positive side, a judge REJECTED the stupid defense of being addicted to video games today (Monday), making me happy because the defense is crap.
